ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to evaluate the body weight and morphornetric changes of trypantolerant composite bull calves in the humid tropical environment, the parameter measured were Body weight, Body length ,heart girth, Height at wither, Head circumference, Ear length, Rump lenghth, Stomach circumference, The result showed the evident from the bull calves [hat from N'dama x white Fulani x Gudali, Ndama x Bororo x White Fulani and the Ndama xNdama x Ndama manifested similar growth characteristics within the first 28 days of life but thereafter the Gudali and Bororo gene bearing calves out performed than Ndama pure breed calves counterpart,this trend continue till 84 days of the study, This seem to show a beautiful blend of trypanotolerant Ndama cattle and heat tolerant Zebu cattle, the Gudali and the white Fulani cattle in the rainforest zone of Nigeria. This composite should be exploited further for improved beef cattle production in Nigeria
