ABSTRACT

The performance of student - teachers in the teaching practice exercise is often confounded by the 'one-shot' supervisory approach which most supervisors adopt contrary to the laid down supervision schedules of their institutions. In addition, most school principals engrossed with their administrative responsihilities had little or no time to oversee the day-to-day activities of the student teachers. Perhaps. ifthe cooperating teachers are made part of the supervisory team and the candidates more regularly supervised, the effectiveness of the teaching practice exercise would be enhanced.
