ABSTRACT
This study evaluated the energy and exergy analysis, efficiency and exergy destruction of an Organic Rankine Cycle model using R-134a, R-143a,R-152a and R-236fa as the working fluid of the refrigerants. Engineering Equation Solver (EES) software was used in the process modelling of the evaporator, expander, condenser and pump of the Organic Rankine Cycle. The result showed that an increase in operating evaporator pressure results in increasing net output and efficiency for the refrigerants. The exergy efficiency of the system is greatly enhanced by virtue of the ORC arrangement to include cooling and heating products. The result also showed that the maximum exergy efficiencies of 158.83 and 64.2 were as a result of the working fluid R-143a and R-152a, thus a good criterion for the efficient performance of the system. Refrigerant R- 143 a and R- 1 52a has higher exergy destruction hence the high exergy efficiency as a result of lower exergy loss
