ABSTRACT

This research was designed to make contributions towards solving the problems on the effects o1 size heterogeneity and density on cannibalism among fry of' (7w'ia,r gariepinus. Effects of heterogeneous sizes and density on cannibalism were evaluated with three bowls each. The prey — predation size (total length) ratios were (1:1, 0.80:1, 0.68:1, and 0.60:1) and density (80fry/25L, 60fty/25L, and 40fry/25L). After 56days of cultured, survival rate were determined. Higher survival rate were obtained in 0.80:1 and 401ry/25L while the lower survival rate were obtained in 0.60:1 and 80fiy/25L. The data collected were subjected to one way analysis of variance and linear regression. The mean were compared using Duncan multiply range Test at 95% confidence limit.
