Abstract

The study determined the effects of peer and self assessment techniques on students' academic achievement in geography. The design o the study was the non-equivalent control group, lhe sample for the study consisted of 22iScnior Secondary class (wo geography students from six single sex secondary schools drawn through stratified disproportionate random sampling technique from single sex schools in Owerri urban of Imo State. A Geography Achievement Test (GAI) was used to collect data. Data generated from the study were analysed with analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Results showed that peer and Self assessment techniques were significant on students’ achievement in geography at 0.05 level ofsignificance. Implications for the study on classroom assessment were highlighted.
