Effects of Peer and Self Assessment Techniques on Cognitive Achievement in Geography:- Agbaegbu, C. N.

ABSTRACT

The study determined the effects of peer and self assessment techniques on students' academic achievement in geography. The design o the study was the non-equivalent control group. The sample for the study consisted of 222Senior Secondary class two geography students from six single sex secundary schools drawn through stratiſied disproportionate random sampling technique from single sex schools in Owerri urban of Imo State. A Geography Achievement Test (GAT) was used to collect data. Data generated from the study were analysed with analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Results showed that peer and Self assessment techniques were significant on students' achievement in geography at 0.05 level of significance. Implications for the study on classroom assessment were highlighted.
