ABSTRACT
Fertilization of tanks determines the growth of fish food. The fertility of the tank soil can be improved through fertilization. Therefore, it is necessary that every fish farmer knows the types and quality of fertilizers to apply to his fish tanks for proper growth of fish foods and better fish yields. Organic fertilizers commonly used in fish tanks include cow dung, poultry droppings, and pig dung, etc. Organic fertilizers are recommended for gradual release of nutrients and good soil conditioning. It is locally available and also leads to inducement of growth of fish foods. The major purpose of fertilizers is to release nutrient into the water. The basic nutrients needed are nitrate and phosphate which will support the growth of algae on which the zooplankton feed.
