Effectiveness Of Video Exposition In Teaching Electrolysis In Senior Secondary School Chemistry

ABSTRACT

The study investigated the effectiveness of video- exposition in teaching electrolysis in senior secondary school chemistry in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State. The study adopted quasi-experimental design. Purposive sampling was used to select one school from the study area using two intact classes of 20 students each (10 males and 10 females).Further purposive sampling was adopted to select 40 student (20 males and 20 female) and random sampling technique was adopted to assign them into the two different groups (treatment and control group). Three research questions were, raised and answered as well as three hypotheses were tested at 0.05% confidence level. The treatment group were taught electrolysis concept with video while the control group were taught electrolysis concept without. Data for the study were gathered through an instrument called Electrolysis Achievement Test (EAT). After which data for the study were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t test. At the end student taught electrolysis concept with video and those taught electrolysis concept without video. Were expose to the same experiment. The result got from the study indicated that student taught electrolysis concept with video performed better than and rented more than those taught using traditional lecture method. The finding of this work has implication for teaching and learning.
