ABSTRACT

Investigations were carried to assess the effect of cold and hot water plant extracts for the control df Xanthonionas vesicalorid in the laboratory The plants used were. A inc//ca (neem seed), G. ku/ct (bitter cola) Z. of/ic/na/c ( ginger seed, ) P. guinecense (black peper) and M. fragrans(nut meg) at different concentrations ((10.20. 30%) results sho\ved that all plant extracts were effective in reducing the growth of bacterial spot bacterium of tcmathXaniiun;wnas cainpestris pv. vesicatoria) in vitro. The five plant extract evaluated for bactericidal etfcct res'lied in significant (P<0.05), reduction in diseases when compared with the untreated control. A. md/ca Z. of/Ic/na/c P. guineense of cold water extract significantly (P><0.05) inhibited hcteriun gruwt by 78.92, 77.09, 76.26% respectively, while in the hot water extract , A. inc//ca, P. ii/nceiise, significantly P>< 0.05) inhibited bacterium growth h' 76.73 and 76.69% respectively on nutren[ agarmedium. The plant extracts have the potential both in the cold and hot water xtrc1 in inhibiting the growth of (Xanihoinonas campcs/r/s. pv. vesicalor/u ) 01' tomato.
