ABSTRACT

 Nigerian industries are faced with the problems off decline in profit, decrease in market share and inadequate facilities. The problems are often said to be associated with performance evaluation. Therefore this research work focuses on effect of performance evaluation on employee productivity a study of 7up Bottling Company. Relevant data were collected from primary and secondary sources, description and survey research design was used for the work. The total population of the study was 440 and out of which constitutes a sample of 210 and was determine through yaro-yamare decrease formula. Base on the findings, organization in Nigeria experience decrease in productivity because of the firm's inability to carryout performance evaluation function that will make them to ascertain the ability of their employees and be able to place them were they are properly suited for effective and efficient evaluation of the firm's goals and objectives and it was discovered that most organization conduct performance evaluation but it was not done regularly and in a way that employees will be satisfied with the evaluation system in use. Based on the findings, the following recommendations were made, the performance evaluation should be conducted at least every six months to enable the management know the actual performance of their employees with a view to improving their effectiveness and efficiency where necessary.
