                                                                                           ABSTRACT

The study examines the effect ofmotivation on employee productivity in business organization. The objectives of the work is to determine the relationship between extrinsic motivation and employee’s job performance, to ascertain the relationship between reward practices and employee’s performance and to determine the extent to which employee appraisal affect productivity. Ill respondents were sampledfrom the selected area understudy. The study used survey design approach to answer three research questions posedfor the study. The correlation test was used to test the three hypotheses that guided the study. The result obtainedfrom the analysis showed that there existed relationship between motivation and the productivity of manufacturing organization. The study reveals that motivation given to workers in an organization through motivation policies, rewardpractices and employee appraisal had a significant effect on the employee productivity. On the bases ofthese findings, employers are continually challenged to develop motivation policies that will enable them to attract, motivate, retain and satisfy their employees. The researcher therefore recommends that more research should be conducted on the relationship and influence ofrewards on workers performance using many private and public organizations which will be a handy tool that could be used to provide solutions to individual conflict that has resultedfrompoor motivationalpolicies
