Effect Of Mother Tongue Interference On The Academic Achievement Of Senior Secondary School Students In Biology In Ikwuano L.G.A Of Abia State

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work is aimed at finding out the effect of mother tongue interference on the academic achievement of senior secondary school students in Biology. A population of 880 students and 20 Biology teachers were used. However, four research questions guided the study. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 students and 4 Biology teachers out of the whole population. The method of data collection was through questionnaire and. Biology achievement test. Data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings and recommendations on how to solve the identified problems were suggested in the work, which if is put into use, will help improve mother tongue among our students.
