ABSTRACT

 This research work evaluates the effect offinancial accounting information on investment decision making in oil and gas company in Nigeria (a study ofshell petroleum pic) as it shades more light on the application and use offinancial accounting information in an oil and gasfirm. It wentfurther to highlight the issues that raised the needfor it appraisal in the oil and gas sector. This study is basically a survey research and therefore required the use of survey method ofinvestigation. In this survey research, a questionnaire is designed to gather information relevant to this project topic. During the period of carrying out the research work, I was convinced that accounting information has a significant effect on the planning process of organizationsespecially on the introduction of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The research concluded that the application of accounting information makes the difference between failed enterprises, corporate bodies on one side and the successful one on the other side. For the improvement in the application of accounting information to be sustained, adequate understanding of the difficulty in the application of accounting information is very essential. Ifthis is applied as at when due, failure in business both private and public sectors will be highly minimized.
