ABSTRACT
This study focused on the effect of employee discipline and management control on organizational performance (A study of Abia State Polytecnic, Aba, Abia State). On the course of this study relevant literatures were reviewed to ascertain the views of authors on the said topic. The specific objectives of the study are to ascertain the relationship between employee discipline and organizational performance, to determine the effect of employee discipline and management control towards improving organizational performance, to assess the various employee disciplinary measures/strategies in practice in the Abia State Polytechnic, to ascertain the challenges of adopting employee discipline and management control in Abia State Polytechnic. The population was 560 staff from which 233 was derived as the sample size and also served as the number of questionnaire distributed and 217 questionnaire duly returned Respondents were drawn through stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire which responded on jive point liker/ scale of strongly agreed, agreed, strongly disagreed, disagreed and undecided The instrument was confirmed to have high validity and reliability. Four research questions were analyzed using frequency and percentages and, four research hypothesis were analyzed using Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The major findings are there is a significant relationship between employee discipline and organizational performance in Abia State Polytechnic Aba. There is significant effect of employee discipline and management control on improving organizational. There is significant relationship on the implementation of disciplinary measures and in increase in organizational performance in Abia State Polytechnic. There are challenges of adopting employee discipline and management control in Abia State Polytechnic The researcher recommended that the institution should be proactive in ensuring and maintaining high level of disciplinary measures to ensure better performance. The attention and intervention of disciplinary committee of the institution should be drawn on those who violate organizational rules
