ABSTRACT

This study investigated effect of budgetary planning and control in government establishments in Nigeria using survey research design through administration of questionnairesto a sample size of31 respondents at Isuikwuato Local Government, Abia State. The study engaged the simple regression method of data analysis to ascertain the relationship ofthe variables. The results ofthe analysis revealed that budgetary planning and control has a significant effect on quality ofservice with 4.1% level ofsignificance. It also found that budgetary planning and control has a significant effect on management efficiency with 3.5% level ofsignificance while exhibiting no significant effect on organizational productivity with 4.5% level of significance. Therefore the study concluded that the effect of budgetary planning and control has significant relationship on productivity of government establishments in Nigeria. Based on the findings ofthis study, it is recommended that proper budgeting planning and control should be prioritized in all government establishments, Budgetary planning and control measures should be enhanced to improve management efficiency and also government should seek appropriate measures that will enhance the productivity level in its establishments.
