ABSTRACT

This study investigates the Economic Analysis of Pineapple Production, in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Farm. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the costs and return involve in Pineapple production and identify the problems affecting pineapple production in the area. The sampling sizes were the years of pineapple production in MOUAU pineapple farm. Data for the study were collected using secondary data which was gotten from the production and marketing managers in charge of pineapple in MOUAU pineapple orchard. The study shows that total revenue which is 992,5O0 minus total cost which is 1, 197,070 equals Net farm income which amounts to-N204,570. Also, sunshine, inadequate labour, inadequate farm input, lack of management were the problems that affected the production. It' is therefore recommended that proper attention should be given to the labourers and they should be provided with' adaptive techniques to mitigate the negative effects of pests and diseases in the pineapple production. Also, more labourers should be employed to assist in the production.
