ABSTRACT

This study was conducted during the rainy months (June — September) to 4 check the diurnal plankton succession in the university fish farm. The experimental unit is 40Dm2earth pond. initially a few visits was made to the project site before sample station was identified. The work commenced with the collection of water sample from each pond for analysis. Fifty Liters of water was sieved through O.055pm sieve for determination of plankton density. The physicochemical parameters determined were temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity and pH. There was significant difference in the mean value (p >0.05). The dominant zooplanktons, groups encountered were copepoda, cladocerus, insecta, and others. The phytoplankton groups observed were Badilariophy ceae, chiorophyceac, chrysophyceae, cyanophy ceae and dinophyceae. There was significant different between the mean values.
