ABSTRACT

In this study, an African black velvet tamarind deseeding machine was designed and fabricated using standard locally sourced materials. This machine eliminates drudgery encountered in the traditional method of removing tamarind seed from the pulp. Essential components of this machine may use the feed hopper, the deseeding unit, the separation chamber, the grinder, the output outlet, the prime mover and the frame. Performances test revealed average efficiency of62% and average mass loss 19%. This machine will be a relief to agricultural industry as well as improve productivity in this sector.
