ABSTRACT

The bioenergy potentials of three different nutshells (flamboyant shell, piliostigma thonningii, and frvingia wombolu ) was determined in order to reduce over dependence on fossil fuel. The biochemical (lignin. cellulose, and hemicellulose), proximate (MC, VM, Ash , FC, HHV, LHV) and ultimate ( 0, H, N,S, C), composition were determined using standard laboratory methods. The results obtained showed that the three nutshells studied had high volatile matter (85.53%), high lignin (52.57MJ/Kg) and high HHV (21.SOMJ/Kg); low ash (3.75%) and sulphur (0. 14%).Hence the nutshells ase good for generating bio-fuel.
