ABSTRACT

This study investigated the land acquisition and its effect on rural women in Ohaji/Egbema L.G.A of Imo state. A multi -random sampling technique was employed and Sttructed questionnaira Was Used in collecting data from 60 randomy selected respondent( male and female) in: the study area. Frequencies, percentage, mean were used to analyse. The hypothesized relationship was established using ordinary least square multiple regression model. The major findings of the study showed that land discrimination and direct effects on rural women like limiting their household income and welfare, increasing their houshold / decision making and affecting their economic options. The factors that influence the acquisition of the laid by rural women were family and succession law and gendered land. The study recommended that government should help formulate few policies and effectively carry out strategies - and measure to eliminate discrimination against women in land acquisition which will in , turn help in agricultural production for their own 'benefits. and' also to the economy as well.
