Design And Implementation Of On-Line Courier Services

ABSTRACT

The on-line courier service is another important method or the system used in keeping customers details or information such as customer details, destination of the parcel and recipient information and so on. These information need to be captured on parcel and filed in a fill cabinet. The process goes this way, when a customer comes with a parcel, the person at the front des1 weighs the parcel in order to rate the parcel and tell the customer the amount to pay. If the customer agrees with the price, a form is handed to him to fill, which captures information like, the customer details, recipient details and content of the parcel to be delivered. The form is delivered in four parts, of which the customer fills three. The remaining one is completed by the staff at front desk. The information on the form is then used to tag the parcel and the form is then put in the company's file cabinet. The aim of this project is to eliminate the tasks associated with paper record keeping and management by introducing a computerized database system for a company. This project will tremendously decrease the bulk on paper records to be stored and allow easy management of goods and access to goods by using a computer. The computerized database system makes the management more efficient, reliable and secure. The programming language used to achieve this are Asp.Net and Vb.Net while Microsoft Access Word was used as the environment.
