Presently, most big transport Companies have resorted to seat booking because of man's quest for orderliness and reliable means of transportation. The core of this work focuses only on transportation by land and more especially vehicles that travels long distances. This research work is aimed at computerizing land transport management system of Abia Transport Corporation at 100 Timber Road Umuahia. The analyses done on the existing system (Manual system) revealed great lapses such as poor storage and retrieval mode, much delay in access time and inaccuracy in file management. Hence, there is need to set up a computer based seat booking system, which is more, effective. The design of the new system is done so as to generate the following reports: • Available destinations or routes • Number of vehicles for each destination • List of departed buses • Number of passengers to be accommodated in a particular bus. • Passengers information report (the manifest) • Seat tickets for passengers • Number of tickets sold for each day • Time for each departure and arrival • • States of each vehicle • Maintenance date for each vehicle and vehicles due for maintenance. This work Finally performs an appraisal of the system developed.
