Design And Implementation Of A. Web-Based Meeting Schedule System (Meetwiz) A Case-Study Of Nacoss National Executives

ABSTRACT

A meeting scheduler system is an automated (often computer-based) system that facilitates the process meeting scheduling among a group of persons who are geographically dispersed. It aims at overcoming the many limitations associated with the traditional mode of scheduling meetings such as phone calls and e-rnailing. There seems to be no meeting scheduling tools widely adopted in school settings, especially for students. After reviewing designs and studying of some of the existing meeting schedulers and compiling results of interviews conducted, the researcher created a computer system that could facilitate the meeting scheduling process for people in different geographical locations. The hybrid-model design uses an enquiry system to request and obtain team members' approximate weekly schedules and HTML-embedded e-mails as the communication tool. The researcher conducted an experiment to evaluate the design using NACOSS National Executive Council members that hold irregular executive meetings, and compared meeting scheduling between a pure e-mail-based system and the new web-based system. The experiment confirms that the hybrid design model helps facilitate the scheduling process.
