Design And Implementation Of A Computerized Database Management System For Product Registration. A Case Study Of National Agency For Food Drugs Administration And Control (NAFDAC)

ABSTRACT

 The rapid growth of fake and substandard and unwholesome regulated products in the society, is alarming and NAFDAC has the following goals, strengthening of food and drug infonnation centers, and establishment of zonal centers, extension of drug abuse seminars and enlightenment campaigns conducted in schools to work places, for civil servants, government staff and factory workers This project is aimed at computerizing of products which are indeed useful to man, whether imported or locally made, which is handled by the National Agency for Food, Drug Administrations and Control (NAFDAC). The project elaborates on the needs for the gross reduction in the circulation of fake products in Nigeria so as to help safeguard the health of the nation. There is also a statement of the problems encountered and also proposed solutions to the problems. The literature review for the project discusses about the registration of different products. Description of the methods of registration of products and design of the computer system was done. The project shows that there is a clear distinction between registering products in NAFDAC manually and using a computerized database management system. This will clearly aid in the effective eradication of fake and substandard products in Nigeria. Visual Basic programming language was used to achieve the Graphic User interphase (GUI) while Microsoft Access (Ms Access) was used as the database.
