ABSTRACT
This project reviewed the importance of computer in seismic oil exploration with particular reference to Agip Oil Company (As case study). The seismic method of oil exploration, a highly computerized method is the focus of this research work. It is the method where sound waves are propagated into and reflected from the earth's crust to the surface to be received by Geophones. The data acquisition and processing are achieved with certain software that are mentioned. This software is developed with some programming languages. The programming languages used in the work are the high-level languages. Explorations are made on why some programming should be used to make better decisions on exploration by the geologist or petroleum engineer. Finally, the sample program is written with QBasic programming language and attached, though due to the complexity of the exploration procedure, the program does not expatiate much on the exploration properly.
