Design And Fabrication Of Grain Packing Machine

ABSTRACT
A simple manually operated grain packing machine was design with solid work computer application tool; The machine was fabricated using local manufacturing technology and tested for packing of grains dried on concrete pavement. The machine had a packing efficiency of 90% with a packing capacity of 10kg per complete cycle of the conveyor and 54kg/mm. With a minimum power of 0.11horsepower and the shaft complete 50rpm; the results when compared with the convectional machine, showed a sign1 cant dfference on the collecting capacity, noise level, and shaft revolution varied with force applied. Also, it showed that the • shear force and bending moment was maximum at the centre of shaft with value of 39N and 185.187 Nm respectively The machine evaluated cost is 112,600 Naira, the machine had the following major components. frame, wheel, sprocket, shaft, bearing roller chain and conveyance system, As the operator applies a push force on the handle of the machine, the wheels of the machine rotates. The sprocket is connected the shaft so as to transmit the motion to the chain which drive the conveyor.
