Concurrent Validity of Jamb UME Scores and University Screening Examination (USE) Scores and its Influence on Education:- Akanwa, U.N.

ABSTRACT

 This study looked at the concurrent validity of the JAMB University Matriculation Examination (UME) score and University Screening Examination (USE) scores and its influence on education. A sample of 533 pairs of UME and USE scores was got by systematic random sampling of the nth number in every 20 scores of 10,660 students who took the USE in ABSU Uturu. One research question and three hypotheses were tested to guide the study. The Pearson Product Moment Correction Coefficients were got using SPSS package. Result shows that there is a low or weak positive relationship ofbetween 0.141 and 0.301 for all the hypothesis tested at 0.01 level of significance. Recommendations were made which include, retention of UME and USE as well as re-orientation of the society.
