Budgeting As A Tool For Management Planning And Control (A Case Study Of Unilever Nigeria Plc Aba, Abia State)

ABSTRACT

This study was on budgeting as a tool for management planning and control. Both primary and secondary data was used for the study. Primary data were collected using questionnaire and schedule interviewers while secondary data were textbooks, journals, and other relevant reports and documents. From the result of analysis, the researcher concluded that budgeting has a relationship with management planning and control , the researcher also discovered that there is significant impact of budgeting in an organization ,the researcher also discovered that there is a significant benefit of budget in an organization and based on these results and findings, the researchers made some recommendations which include that organizations should maintain a sound and reliable budgetary control, organizations should establish budget centers or departments and each center should be involved fully in the budgetary process, organizations should always prepare realistic and attainable estimates as budgets, organizations should ensure effective application of budget, organizations should always consult the project department to check the budget list so as to achieve a set goal and objectives. Data collected were analyzed using percentage and chi-square methods.
