Abstract

 The study investigated awareness and utilization of electronic information resources by undergraduates of College of Education (COED), Michael Okpara University ofAgriculture, Umudike (MOUAU).Abia State, Nigeria. The sample size of the study was 395 students, representing 40% ofthe population of1,975 students. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select respondentsfrom various departments ofthe College. A researcher-made 4-point Likert instrument was usedfor data collection. Data obtainedwere analysed using mean scores and standard deviation. Findings ofthe study showed high level ofawareness ofthe availability of electronic information resources in the library and the use of electronic information resources available in the library.. The study also revealed that the students use the resources at various frequencies and for different purposes such as reading, leisure, writing projects, etc. Further analysisrevealed that the students encountersome challenges in their attempt to use the electronic information resources, including: lack ofawareness ofavailable electronic information resources relatedto their disciplines, inadequate guidance on how to use the available electronic information resources, poor Internet connection, among others. The study therefore recommends sustained publicity, provision ofguidance on how to use the electronic information resources, expansion of Internet bandwidth, among others, to ensure high level ofawareness and effective utilization of electronic information resources.
