Abstract

This study examined the awareness, access, and use of open educational resources (OERs) by library and information science researchers in Nigeria. The objectives were to access level of awareness, access, extent of use, factors influencing use, and strategies for promoting Open Educational Resources (OERs among Library and Information Science (LIS) researchers in Nigeria. It adopted a descriptive survey design. The total population was 49 postgraduate students of2024/2025 academic session. Census sampling technique was used to drive a sample size of 49 because ofsmall and manageable size ofthe population. Data were collected through a self-structured questionnaire titled: (ACUOERLISRQ). The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to respond and answer the research questions. At the end of the analysis, the study revealed among others that there was a high level of awareness of OERs, especially regarding their concept, benefits, and open licensing though institutional training was limited. The study concludes that enhanced institutional support and capacity-building will promote sustainable OER adoption among LIS researchers in Nigeria. It therefore recommend among others that institutions should encourage greater use ofOERs by integrating them into research activities, training, course development, and teaching practices.
