ABSTRACT

This project focuses on the Appraisal of the Functions of Audit Committee in Corporate Organization in Nigeria; A study of Pz cussons plc in Nigeria. The research was carried out among other things was set to Appraise the Functions of Audit Committee in Corporate organization in Nigeria. To identify the benefits to be derived by management and to discus in details the general concepts of the Functions of Audit Committee in Corporate Organization The main objectives of this study is to find out the actual roles played by Audit Committee in Corporate Organization in Nigeria and whether they are relevant in our circumstances. The specific objective is to analyze the actual roles played by the Audit Committee so as to determine the work ability of the expectation as prescribed by law. This study used primary data, it made use of 5points likert scale questionnaire which was administered to the management staff senior staff and junior staff The technique adopted is ordinary least square method which made use of Analysis of Variance(ANOVA) approach. The result obtained shows that the activities and Functions of the Audit Committee had a positive and significant relationship with the performance of Pz Cussons Nigeria Plc and also that the roles of Audit Committee had a positive and significant relationship with the performance of Pz Cussons Nigeria plc. The researcher also recommended that there should be a well established sound and effective audit committee in order that the need for unbiased functional statement to make right decisions will be adequately met.
