ABSTRACT
Natural fiber reinforced composite material has recently attracted interest due to its low density, low cost, acceptable specific characteristics, ease of separation, improved energy recovery, CO2 neutrality, biodegradability, and renewable nature. The goal ofthis paper is to analysis and evaluate the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, flexural strength test, water absorption and hardness bamboo fiber using composite materials with and without iron filings as a reinforcing material and for the production of car bumper. Design, manufacture of the component, and experimental techniques is used to meet the goals given. The bamboo plant is the raw material chosen for this thesis project. The matrix material (polyester resin) and hardener used in this investigation, as well as the iron filings that has been used as reinforcement, were all obtained from the markets. Bamboo fiber that has been chemically treated with 5% NaOH and 95% purified water is used. Keeping in mind the needs of varied testing conditions and characterization standards, two samples were made, the first with polyester resin and iron filings and bamboo fiber and the second with polyester resin and bamboo fibers. The mixture was then put into the molds. In two distinct composite samples of bamboo fiber were created with and without iron filings as a reinforcing material. The paper model’s orientation was chosen in accordance with the findings ofthe samples’ analysis. Based on the findings of the experimental data examination, it was determined that the respective values for ultimate tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness of and water absorption of both samples were; sample without reinforced material 7.096 MPa, 17.89598 N/mm2, Shore 54D, and 17.01%, respectively. The sample made ofreinforced material having ultimate tensile strength, flexural strength, hardness ofand water absorption of24.69909 MPa, 33.412867V/mm2, Shore 7 ID, and 5.97%, respectively.
