Analyses Of Income And Expenditure Among Wieet Potato Farmers In Ikwuano Local Government Area, Abia State, Nigeria

ABSTRACT 

This study considered the analyses of income and expenditure among sweet potato farmers in  Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. This study is relevant because it will determine the income status of the farmers and their investment expenses, thus revealing the factors affecting  risk or profit associated with the farm enterprise. sixty (60) potato farmers were sampled randomly with the aid of  a structured questionaire. the data collected were analysed with descriptive statistics involving tables frequencies percentages. and with ordinary least square (OLS) multiple regression analysis. The result of the analysis showed that income and expenditure on the sweet potato investment were determined by factors such as value of input, access to credit, value of investment, labour and rent. It was therefore, recommended that provision. of real !nput at higher rate and provision of credit at accessible conditions will go a long way to boost sweet potato farmers income and reduce expenditure in the study area.
