ABSTRACT

The objective of the work was to examine the effect of Azadirachta indica, Piper guineense and Capsicum annum, which are potentially useful plant products for the protection of cowpea grains against infestation by Callosobruchus maculatus. Equal proportions of weaning BABL/c Swiss albino mice weighing between 12.16g -17.50g were fed with cowpea meal and commercial rodent feed treated with powder of the plant products. The experimental animals were allowed feed and water ad libitum for 72 days. Control blocks were fed with the same feeds but without the plant products. During the experiment the physically examined physical attributes of well-being in the mice were satisfactory, the average body weight gain showed weak statistical significance at
