ABSTRACT
It is not an overstatement to state that library services at all levels should be sustained. Unfortunately, government, educational institutions and stakeholders do not handle library matters as priority in institutions, organizations and communities. Despite efforts to satisfy community users in respect ofinfonnation needs, challenges such as battling stereotypes and budget cut, leave many librarians feeling discouraged and undervalued. As such, these necessitate the need for library advocacy and community librarianship so as to remain flexible and adaptable to change. Libraries have changed tremendously and generated service skills to serve the local community by providing information access and services that individuals in the community ordinarily could not have gotten access to. This has necessitated linkages, inter-library loan and advocacy among libraries regardless of type, size, human and information resources.
