ABSTRACT

Cosmetics can be said to be any powder, lotion, lipstick, rouge, or other preparation for beautifying the face, skin, hair, nails, etc. The aim of this project research was to produce body lotion and essential oil using Neem (Azadirachta indica) and Avocado pear (Persea americana). The materials, were sourced from N lichael Okpara university ofAgriculture, and extraction was carried out in the laboratory using SOXHLEX EXTRACTION METHOD, and after which, various tests such as tests for the physical properties, chemical properties and zones of inhibition were carried out on tire oils to determine their physiochemical properties, anti-microbial activities and bacterial strain. The results gotten showed the different characteristics such as oxidation, viscosity, moisture content etc. of the body lotions produced from these two plant materials, their reaction against microorganisms, oil yields etc. It was noticed that the pomades and essential oils or lotion from Azadirachta indica prevent microbial actions and yield more oil than Persea americana which has higher shelflife and also higher moisture content, meaning it's prone to oxidation.
