ABSTRACT

This project work is to discuss the numerical solution of polynomial equations of the form f(x) = 0. There are two commonly used methods for solving these equations. They are direct method and iterative method. Direct methods are those which in the absence of round-off or other errors will fill yield the exact solution in a finite number of basic arithmetic operations. An iterative method involves successive approximations towards the solution of an equation. This approximation gets improved at each step until we either get to the exact solution or at least, a value very near to the exact solution of the equation or until convergence occur.
